Interesting, but not a lens. Very disturbed galaxy for me.

The universe holds more surprises than disturbed galaxies and mergers, sorry I have to disagree on this one.

Hi - that pasted in image looks like a #simfail to me: a simulated ring that has somehow been presented offset from its lens galaxy.

@JasonJason, can you post the link to that image's object page please? I'd like to alert @anupreeta to it. Thanks!

Ohhhhhhhh wait I see now: that's a screengrab from the LensToy on the landing page, which does indeed have a known bug in it 😦

Sorry all: the landing page LensToy arcs all appear offset from their model lens galaxies. I'll try harder to get that offset fixed 😕

OK, issue is submitted, LensToy should make more sense soon. In the meantime, I agree with @elisabethb, the object above is probs a merger

#ring. Has the status of this ring at 11 oclock been confirmed as a merger?

If it is a merger what is it merging with that has nothing at its center? I still feel it is a rare lens effect.

I'll say it again. Very unusual merger, but a merger nonetheless ! Gorgeous one too !

Could it be a tidal ring? If it is a merger, it could be possible?
