Is this an official Bright Star?

  • psaha by psaha scientist

The Bright Star Catalogue has only about 10,000 stars, or about one per four square degrees. If the CFHTLS images are about a square arc-minute each, that would mean we expect to classify 10,000 images before meeting one of the elite. Way rarer than lenses!

I am nowhere near 10,000 classifications, so I am pretty sure I haven't met an official Bright Star yet, and ASW0001fav is not one. It could be a Henry Draper star though. Those are 20 times commoner.
