any ideas about this?

Not yet - the g-band image that went into the blue channel of the colour composite clearly has a lot more flux in it than the red and green ones. My guess is something went wrong with the g-band background subtraction, leaving a very bright and almost uniform image. We tried hard to optimize the images to make faint galaxies easy to see - but that means we are quite sensitive to big mistakes like this! 😉
