White mist like image cause?

Does anyone know the cause? It looks no where near dense enough to be a galaxy. If it's just a molecular cloud, can they really get that big? I know it's not what were looking for, but It's just really interesting as I've seen nothing close to that scale on any of the other pictures. In comparison to the nearby star it seems huge.

I after toying with the idea that it is an optical artifact. The shape is just too lenticular. Any other ideas?
