Strange feature

  • wmnewbury by wmnewbury

Please could someone please tell me what I am looking at here as it looks very interesting. I am quite sure there is no evidence of gravitational lensing on this picture, but it looks like there is something shimmering in the star light of the star in the top left. The crescent shaped object that i am looking at lies about half way down on the far left hand side of the picture. I am quite sure that I am not looking at an exoplanet as I thought it was impossible to see one from earth, but I cant help thinking that it does look like one! can someone with a better brain than me please clarify what I am looking at? Thanks

It is difficult to know which object you are referring to as this image is very cluttered with optical artifacts, but I do not think it is an exoplanet 😃
I would say it is either a star or galaxy.

I have just had another of the moderators look at this image, and @ElisabethB also thinks it is just a small galaxy. Nothing special. Sorry about that but you never know what else could be out there 😃
