simulation

When do the simulation images go? I read on FAQ's that when the background is orange, more detailed classification takes place. What does this mean? Does this mean images we look at on a blue background arn't 'proper' images, so to speak. And how is a 'new' discovery recognized by your team? Any advice would be great! 😃

Hi EmmaJayne - welcome to Space Warps!

All the images on Spacewarps are real images. On some of the images we insert simulated lenses for training purposes. These images are always flagged as a 'Training Image' in Talk. The sims are always enabled, as we found in the first phase of SpaceWarps we got more accurate results when they were turned on 😃

The background will not change colour if it is a training image.

When the background turns orange, it means we have entered the 'Refine' phase, and only the most promising candidates from the initial phase will be available for classification. When this happens only mark objects that you are really sure are lenses!

    Hope this helps 😃
