Is this a supernova ?

  • John_of_South_Hall_ by John_of_South_Hall_

The very large white star ? appears to be exploding or sending out a pulse. I can see a very faint circle around the star its radius is almost equal to the length of the horizontal beam to th RH side.

Nope, sorry, not a supernova. This is what very bright stars look like in these images.

It is a very bright star, but it isn't a supernova. The spikey things are because the star is so bright it has overloaded the camera. If we dialed down the sensitivity, the star would look like any other, but then we'd miss all the cool galaxies in the rest of the image!
