how to distinguish this lens from "just two galaxies"?

The program tells me there is actually a lens in the bottom right, but how can you tell? To me it looks like a galaxy with a small galaxy next to it, so what are the key things to look for?

You're right to ask about this one - I can't tell there's a lens there either! Some sims are just very hard to spot - but we have to put them in so that we know what our limits are. Then, when do our final count of real lenses, we can account for the ones that we know we probably missed...

The lens in this image imho is the object at the left that has a faint red spot at 4 o'clock

Please give the position of the object you refer to in image, because I can't see what you are referring to.

I think @technos is talking about the bright blue star (that's saturated in the middle). I don't buy it - the sims are just like real lens systems, they have smooth yellow lens galaxies. More likely the lensed feature is buried in some bright galaxy, or it's a #bug 😉
